Deal is bidding to renew its status as a ‘Walkers are Welcome’ town. This scheme helps to boost the local economy and raises the profile of the town as a great place to visit.
There are more than 100 towns in the Walkers Are Welcome network, which neighbouring Dover joined in 2016. Towns are encouraged to ensure: -
They are attractive to walkers with information on walks in the area; that footpaths and other facilities for walkers are maintained, improved and well signposted; that walking helps tourism plans and town improvement strategies; that health benefits of walking to encourage more walkers are promoted; and that use of public transport is promoted.
The Deal Walkers are Welcome group needs 5% of the local population to support the accreditation so please sign up and encourage your friends to do so as well.
There is no fee and we will keep you informed of the progress of the project, you can unsubscribe at any time and details of that are in our Privacy page.
